Connect a Mastodon account

Connect any Mastodon account to Hyvo: enter your server's address, sign in on your server and authorize Hyvo. Hyvo uses your server's own character limit.

Mastodon is made of many independent servers. Hyvo works with any of them; you just tell it which one your account is on.

Connect your account

  1. In Hyvo, choose Connect in the sidebar, then Mastodon.
  2. Under Your server, enter the part after the second @ in your full address. For @you@mastodon.social, enter mastodon.social.
  3. Choose Continue. Your server's own sign-in page opens.
  4. Sign in and choose Authorize.
  5. Back in Hyvo, the account appears on the Connect page.

What Hyvo can do on Mastodon

  • Publish posts with up to 4 files.
  • Schedule posts.
  • Show favourites, replies and boosts in Analytics.
  • Edit the text of a published post.

Character limits

Most Mastodon servers allow 500 characters, but some allow more. Hyvo reads your server's own limit and uses it in the composer.

If "Checking server…" fails

Check the server address for typos, and leave out https:// and your username. If your server is down or blocks new apps, Hyvo can't connect until it's reachable again.
