Review posts with approvals

Have posts approved before they go out. Choose when approval is needed and who can approve, then review in Team.

On this page
  1. Set the rules
  2. Send a post for review
  3. Review posts

Approvals let a teammate or client sign off on posts before they're published. Approvals are on the Growth and Scale plans.

A post's path through review. The writer sends it for review from the composer, and the approvers are told. An approver then either approves it, choosing Approve & publish to post it now or Approve & schedule to post it at its set time, or requests changes, which sends it back to the writer with a note. The writer edits it and sends it for review again.
How a post moves through review

Set the rules

  1. Choose Team in the sidebar, then Rules.
  2. Under Approval, choose:
    • When needed: only members who can't publish send posts for review.
    • Always: every member's post needs approval.
  3. Under Approvers, choose who can approve. Owners and admins can always approve; you can also make a member an approver.

Owners and admins set the rules.

Send a post for review

In the composer, choose Send for review instead of publishing. Add a note if there's anything to check, for example "Is the price right?". The post waits for a decision, and the approvers are told.

Review posts

Choose Team in the sidebar. The page shows what needs you first, for example "1 post waits on your review".

  • To review: posts waiting on you.
  • In review: posts waiting on someone.
  • Sent back: your posts that were sent back for changes.
  • Approved: posts that have been signed off.

Open a post to see how it looks on each platform, any note from the writer, and the comments. Then:

  • Approve: the button says what happens next. Approve & publish sends it now; Approve & schedule schedules it for its time.
  • Request changes: add a note saying what to change. The post goes back to its writer under Sent back.
  • Edit: fix a small thing yourself before approving.

When a post is sent back, its writer edits it and sends it for review again.
